Optimize by Using Meta Tags Wisely

There is much debate among the many who write about SEO in regards to using meta tags. First, there are the nay-sayers who go as far as to say that using meta tags is a useless task and that they return very little results when it come to search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Second, there are the radicals, who wouldn't even think of building a website without adding or using meta tags. And then there are the moderates who declare that while meta tags have lost some of there lustre of the past few years, it is still a good idea to spend some time building and using meta tags in each blog or website.

The discussion about using meta tags will probably never end and the views of some may never change, however, it must be noted that many well known companies who rank high in search engines are actively using meta tags. Take some time and search the web for some of the companies that you know and then check out their source code and you will find included in their website or blog structure the much debated meta tags.

The debate really has been polarized mainly because of those who employ tactics that breech the guidelines set forth by Search Engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. They employ techniques like keyword stuffing, which quite simply is an over use of one keyword or keyword phrase, or they place keywords within the meta tag that have nothing to do with the content of the blog or website. These are the things that make using meta tags such a challenge today.

However, the best response to everything that you read about using meta tags is to develop a strategy that incorporates the best practices. Mainly stay away from anything that even remotely resembles keyword stuffing and don't place keywords in your meta tags that don't show up in your sites main content. Then take care to add the words that really captures the essence and substance of your blog or website.

Remember, these keywords should be carefully placed when using meta tags, especially within the keyword, h1 and h2 and description tags. Remember not to over do it, be careful not to place the same keywords in succession or to over capitalize. These are the things that can get you into trouble with search engines.

Be Sure to Get a Dedicated IP Address

This blog is designed to help anyone who is seeking SEO advice for ranking high in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. The first SEO tip we looked at was selecting a domain containing your site's main keyword. The next SEO tip goes hand and hand with the first. When you consider a webhost, be sure to get a dedicated IP Address.

A Dedicated IP Address(Internet Protocol Address) is simply defined as having one website hosted per IP address in contrast of having several and sometimes 25, 50 or more websites hosted all on one IP Address.

This is an important factor in Search Engine Optimization, because if you have several sites hosted on one IP Address there is a greater chance that you could get banned from search engines for no other reason than that one of the websites hosted along with your site committed a forbidden act and when they get punished you get punished and sometimes banned if they breech a guideline according to search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN.

There are other good SEO reasons for purchasing a webhosting plan where you get a Dedicated IP Address. I have done testing and have found that sites that are ranking high in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN (the big three when it comes to search engines) are sites that have a dedicated IP, this is especially true with Google which just happens to be the biggest by far of the big three for providing traffic to websites.

Finally, when it comes to SEO you really want to get a dedicated IP, for without it your website may looked cloaked, which is a major problem with search engines, especially, you guessed it, Google. For a clear explanation of cloaking visit Google Guidelines for Webmasters. To avoid even the appearance of this act you should carefully select a webhosting plan where you get a dedicated IP address.

Welcome To The Seo Advice Blog

In this blog you will find SEO Advice that should help your blogs and websites list well in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Search Engine Optimization is an ever changing challenge for every person who desires to get their site in the top ten of search engine results.

However, there are some things that don't change in the SEO world. These are the things that you can do and be sure that they will always help you in your quest to rank well in search engines Like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Below you will find some SEO information that you can use towards this goal.

SEO Tip - Select A Domain Containing your Site's Main Keyword

A domain is quite simply the address of your website or blog (i.e. Google's domain name is http://www.google.com/ ). When you get up the courage to build a website or to begin blogging be sure to select a domain name that contains your site's main keyword. This is the first step towards search engine optimization and thus succeeding in ranking well in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN which happen to be the three largest search engines available on the web.

For instance if your blog is about watches you should incorporate the word watches into the domain name that you select. I have tried searching for various items in search engine like Google, Yahoo and MSN and have found over and over again that a large percentage of the top ten results for an item have contained that particular keyword in the domain name.

You can do some testing yourself very easily. Just go to a search engine like Google, Yahoo or MSN and type in a keyword and then look at the domain name of each of the top ten results. You will soon discover that more often than not that the keyword will show up in the domain name.
