Building Backlinks to Your Blog or Website

When it comes to SEO there are many factors that must come together so that your blog or website will rank high in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Backlinks, like keyword rich content are among the greatest factors for ranking high in search engines.

In my previous post I spent a quite a bit of time explaining how important it is to create and add keyword rich content to your blog or website. This is important for many reasons and especially for search engine optimization.

Today, I am going to venture into the world of backlinks and explain why they are important and also reveal some of the good ways to get backlinks to your blog or website. First, though a simple definition, backlinks are quite simply defined as links that point to your blog or website from another website or blog. They are like votes of approval for your website or blog, thus the more backlinks the more votes and with more votes comes better search engine placements.

Therefore, when it comes to SEO for Blogs and Websites the more quality backlinks or votes of approval you have from other websites or blogs the greater the chance you have of ranking high in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Notice, I said quality backlinks, there are some backlinks that you are better off not having, for they will have the opposite effect on your ranking in search engines. They are backlinks that come from link farms and sites that have been banned or disciplined by search engines, because they participate in practices that breech there guidelines.

The Backlinks that you really want to have and are of good quality are those that come from visitors to your blog or website who really like what you have to offer and therefore they link to your blog or website. This is good, but what is even better is when Websites link to your blog or website that have the same topic matter. This is where your original and keyword rich content really pays off, because if you have invested some time writing your own material in your own words then you will be offering something of value and something that people will not find anywhere else.

This hard work will often be rewarded especially by bloggers and web developers. And remember when they reward you with backlinks or votes of approval your ranking in search engines are going to grow and grow. The two work in tandem, keyword rich content and quality backlinks and they are a winning pair when it comes to SEO.

Welcome To The Seo Advice Blog

In this blog you will find SEO Advice that should help your blogs and websites list well in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Search Engine Optimization is an ever changing challenge for every person who desires to get their site in the top ten of search engine results.

However, there are some things that don't change in the SEO world. These are the things that you can do and be sure that they will always help you in your quest to rank well in search engines Like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Below you will find some SEO information that you can use towards this goal.

SEO Tip - Select A Domain Containing your Site's Main Keyword

A domain is quite simply the address of your website or blog (i.e. Google's domain name is http://www.google.com/ ). When you get up the courage to build a website or to begin blogging be sure to select a domain name that contains your site's main keyword. This is the first step towards search engine optimization and thus succeeding in ranking well in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN which happen to be the three largest search engines available on the web.

For instance if your blog is about watches you should incorporate the word watches into the domain name that you select. I have tried searching for various items in search engine like Google, Yahoo and MSN and have found over and over again that a large percentage of the top ten results for an item have contained that particular keyword in the domain name.

You can do some testing yourself very easily. Just go to a search engine like Google, Yahoo or MSN and type in a keyword and then look at the domain name of each of the top ten results. You will soon discover that more often than not that the keyword will show up in the domain name.
