There is much debate among the many who write about SEO in regards to using meta tags. First, there are the nay-sayers who go as far as to say that using meta tags is a useless task and that they return very little results when it come to search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Second, there are the radicals, who wouldn't even think of building a website without adding or using meta tags. And then there are the moderates who declare that while meta tags have lost some of there lustre of the past few years, it is still a good idea to spend some time building and using meta tags in each blog or website.
The discussion about using meta tags will probably never end and the views of some may never change, however, it must be noted that many well known companies who rank high in search engines are actively using meta tags. Take some time and search the web for some of the companies that you know and then check out their source code and you will find included in their website or blog structure the much debated meta tags.
The debate really has been polarized mainly because of those who employ tactics that breech the guidelines set forth by Search Engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. They employ techniques like keyword stuffing, which quite simply is an over use of one keyword or keyword phrase, or they place keywords within the meta tag that have nothing to do with the content of the blog or website. These are the things that make using meta tags such a challenge today.
However, the best response to everything that you read about using meta tags is to develop a strategy that incorporates the best practices. Mainly stay away from anything that even remotely resembles keyword stuffing and don't place keywords in your meta tags that don't show up in your sites main content. Then take care to add the words that really captures the essence and substance of your blog or website.
Remember, these keywords should be carefully placed when using meta tags, especially within the keyword, h1 and h2 and description tags. Remember not to over do it, be careful not to place the same keywords in succession or to over capitalize. These are the things that can get you into trouble with search engines.

Create Keyword Rich Content
During the past couple of days I have discussed two important factors regarding SEO. In a bit I am going to move on to a third factor which is; create keyword rich content. But before I do, here is just a little recap of what we have already discovered.
First, I have explained the importance of purchasing a domain with your sites main keyword, for instance if your blog or website is about watches then purchase a domain containing the keyword watches. Secondly, I have written about the importance of getting a dedicated IP address in regards to search engine optimization. If you want to rank high in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN, then it is important to get a webhost who provides you with a dedicated IP address.
I have taken time to focus on these things first, because quite often they are the first two things that people do when they consider blogging or building a website and quite frankly, these are things that I wished I new about search engine optimization before I built my first website.
Let's move now to the importance of creating keyword rich content, I am going to take some time to explain the importance of creating keyword rich content, especially, of course, in regards to SEO and how this will help you rank high in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN.
This step is probably one of the most important steps towards good SEO. However, it seems that it is the one step that most people want to avoid. The reason for this probably varies, but I am guessing that the main reason that Bloggers and Website Developers pass over creating keyword rich content is that it requires alot of work and some thinking or maybe the other way around.
But that doesn't matter, what matters is that there is no good reason to not create keyword rich content. This is a must, for you could do everything else right, but if you avoid or pass over this step you will not rank high in search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN, the three biggest search engines on the web.
Why is this, that is the question that most people want to have answered, especially when it comes to SEO. The answer is very simple, the search engines read text, not images or text embedded in images. When one of the robots from Google, Yahoo or MSN visits your site they are looking for something to read and they read text best. So be very careful to build pages with readable text which contain keyword rich content.
Therefore, take some time to clearly think about what you want your blog or website to be about and then focus in on one main topic for your blog or website and then incorporate that keyword throughout your site. Further, develop as well keyword phrases that relate to your topic and create keyword rich content around those phrases.
When the search engines visit, read and rank your site for specific keywords, the single most important factor that will determine if you will rank high for specific keywords is Content and especially original content, which is content that has come directly from you and not other sources. The importance of original content cannot be overstated, don't fall into the trap of copying and pasting from other sources, for this will do more harm than good when it comes to SEO.
So take time and focus and write your own original materials the way only you can write and say it and this will help you far more than adding other materials, especially when it comes to Search Engine Optimization. This will also make your blog or website much more interesting to your readers and may I add, helpful and refreshing. Enjoy your SEO work today.
